Our
Safety
Plan

The safety of the people entrusted to our care is of paramount
importance to us. We take the following steps to ensure that everyone
has a safe time whether they are in one of our camps or on a hike.

 We do risk assessments of all our activities and hikes and these are available to schools and parents on request.

 Our staff undergo rigorous internal training and testing before we allow them to facilitate and lead teams.

 All staff go through a level one first aid training course and are given additional training on how to handle an emergency. They are taught all the emergency procedures so that they can react in the appropriate way for any possible emergency.

 Staff are equipped with a first aid kit while out doing activities and our campsites have additional first aid items for any first aid necessary.

 We have professional paramedics on call for all our venues. For our Umkomaas and Berg hikes, there is the option of having paramedics on site or on call.

 All staff are checked and cleared of any criminal history (police clearance) and are also screened on the sex offender’s registry of South Africa.

 At Shongweni we have permanent security staff monitoring who comes in and out of camp.
