Meet The Team

Nathan Bam

Nathan is the passionate and caring leader of Spirit of Adventures. It is his vision and enthusiasm that that has taken us from a single camp to a cohesive company offering 3 different, permanent destinations as well as our hikes and specialized camps.

He has worked in education and outdoor education for the past 16 years.  His passion is infectious and he inspires his staff and clients alike, to push themselves beyond their comfort zone on a regular basis. He is fondly known as ‘Mr Waffles’.

Bianca Sims-Handcock

​Bianca is our super capable reservations lady with the patience of a saint. She has ably managed all enquiries for the past 2 years with a ready smile and a patient answer for all.

Ruth Armitage

Ruth has been involved as a client of SoA for 8 years and in the past 2 years worked as a happy employee. With a background in both education and tourism, she capably oversees certain aspects of the 3 camps plus the hikes.

Zelt Smit

Zelt is our quick-witted, long suffering accountant. He spends a lot of time chasing the team for slips and the information required to do his job. He is a Chemical Engineer by trade but is enjoying this new challenge. He has been with us for 18 months.

Louise Smit

Louise is the 'mom' of Roselands. Her warmth and care have made Roselands a home from home where everyone feels welcome. She has ably help manage Roselands for the past 12 years and her rusks are world famous.

James Jimmy

James is one of the many cheerful faces of Roselands. He has been a committed and enthusiastic member of the team for the past 12 years. He has positively affected many young lives and ably leads up most of our 'Boys to Men' hikes. 

Thandi Jili

Thandi approaches her job with enthusiasm. She has ably led up and inspired groups of children for the past 8 years, first at Roselands and now at Tala,  where she capably manages her team of leaders.

Kerry Reed

Kerry has competently managed our camp at Tala for the past two years. She and her team produce delicious meals that keep our clients coming back for more. She has been involved in rhino conservation for years and has some interesting stories to share.

Sarah Wright

Sarah started her journey at SOA 11 years ago as an instructor. She now helps manage Shongweni as well as the personel for the whole company. She came here as a high school student and decided this was her calling. She hasn’t regretted it for a moment.
